Wishing all the teachers and students in the GT Online program a very safe and happy holiday break.
I hope you all get a chance to relax and recharge the batteries ready for a big Semester Two.
Congratulations on a great semester, especially to the new Year 7 and 8 students who have taken on the challenge of moving to high school and participating in an online program, which has so many challenges in itself. Hopefully you are getting the hang of it and next semester will be even better!!
Departing Students:
Some students are leaving the program to return to regular classes in their school for Semester Two. We wish them all the best and look forward to them staying in touch with their online friends. For those students leaving, you will still have access to Moodle to maintain contact with your friends and teachers. We look forward to hearing from you.
Reports:
These have been posted directly to your home address and should arrive next week. Read your reports carefully to see any advice your teachers may have given on how you can improve your grades next semester. There are quite a few students who have been told by their teachers that they are not working at the level they are capable of. One of the biggest causes of this is not using your independent study time effectively to ensure you are covering all the course content, handing in all of your assignments and revising for tests. We know this is a challenge, but we hope that you can take it on next semester and really show us what you are capable of. Although you don't get 'practice semesters' like Calvin hopes in the cartoon below, you have a new semester coming up and you can aim to do better in Semester Two's report. Take what you have learnt from this semester on how you can do better, and apply it next semester. Teachers have indicated on the reports if they would like to have an interview with your parents and these will be organised early next term.
Copies of reports have also been sent to your schools, along with certificates we have asked to be handed out at school to those students who have been awarded one by their teacher. As always, a top student has been selected for each subject per year group, and these students will receive a $30 online book voucher.
