Week 3 Update from Ms C
by Admin Ecreators - Week 3 Update from Ms C
Dear GT Online Students
Please read the following carefully and follow any prompts in red that apply to you:
- We will now just be using the new Moodle learning area. I think all teachers are only using the course areas in the new version (if not teachers, you better make the change now!!
)
- Maths and Science timetables have been finalised and have been uploaded into the course homepages in Moodle (yay!! finally!!). They will also be sent to School Coordinators and Parents. I know there are some students who have different lessons between the two rotating weeks - I am currently making a term lesson calendar for each of you to help keep yourself organised for your lessons. Please check to see if any of your lessons have been changed. (BREAKING NEWS!! BREAKING NEWS!! Sorry Year 7 Maths students - as I was writing this update, Mrs Reynolds has just told me that her timetable is changing and it affects some of your lessons, so I am now having to go and work on that and will let you know when it is finalised - sorry)
- Hopefully most of the login problems have been solved. Besides Storm, is there anyone else who can't access Saba? Also anyone who can't access the new Moodle? I know that if you can't access Moodle you wouldn't be able to read this message, but I thought you might be reading it on another student's Moodle if there are other students in your school. Please message me if you are still having problems (if you can't get into the new Moodle, you can use the old Moodle system to message me).
- Independent Study Periods - make sure you know what the teachers expect you to work on during your Independent Study times. On your school timetable, all the periods that are allocated to the subjects you are studying online, are used for your online program. Some will have your SABA lessons in them, the others are your independent study time. Your teacher will tell you what you need to complete each week, or between your two lessons. They will also have this written in Moodle somewhere - some teachers have a separate block section for the independent study tasks.
- You will also notice that you can now use emoticons in your messages. When you have access to the Text Editor - like in forums - you can click on the emoticon tool. In messages you can use the text option to bring up the emoticon - I have attached an image showing how to create the different emoticons.
Now that I have to work on the Year 7 Maths timetable again, I will have to leave this update for now and if there is anything else I need to tell you, I will add another update!!
Well done to everyone for working so hard to get the online program up and running and being so patient with technical difficulties and timetabling issues.
Ms C
