Hi GT Onliners
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. It is well over halfway through Term 1 as there are only 9 weeks this term - so much to fit in!!!
ANZAC Tour in the News
This amazing opportunity to be at the100th Anniversary Celebrations at Gallipoli in Turkey, is rapidly approaching for our Year 9 online student Michael Keller from Northcliffe, and our ex-student Isha Singh, who is now at Perth Modern School. Someone has kept it very quiet that Michael has actually become a TV Star - but don't worry I came across it today and want to share it with everyone. Mrs Thomson has probably shared it with some of you. Well done Michael you have represented your school and the GT Online program admirably.
Here is the link to the news video - it is from You Tube so it may not work in some schools:
There is also information on the Department of Education website here about the upcoming tour:
Students who are Absent
If you know you are going to be away for a class eg swimming carnivals, excursions, appointments, trips to Perth etc., it is your responsibility to send your teacher a Moodle message to let them know which lesson and the reason you will be away. If you are sick and you are not totally down for the count, jump on the computer at home and send them a message before you crawl back into bed or onto the couch. If you are too sick, make sure you let them know as soon as you are better, or have your mum email myself or the teacher.
Year 7/8 Science Assessment
For students in Years 7 and 8 Science, you should have received your Science Practical file which had some practical assessment information inside. Don't be concerned that both years are doing the same topic and the same assessments. As you are both new to secondary school this year, all students must complete the Science Inquiry topic. After this you will be studying different topics. Next year this topic will only be done in Year 7.
The black plastic file is your Science Practical file and you will keep it whilst you are in the program and it will be returned when you complete at the end of Year 10, or earlier if you exit the program. It is like a textbook. You will receive practical assessment tasks for each new topic and they will need to be kept in this folder. Once you have finished a topic, you can file the documents in another folder so this one doesn't get too cluttered - it should just have the current practical tasks in it.
GT Online Camp
Just to confirm that the next GT Online Camp is May 25-29 at Ern Halliday Recreation Camp in Hillarys. I know some parents are already making travel plans etc. Very exciting - can't wait to see you all again and meet those of you I didn't get a chance to meet last year.
Enjoy your week - work hard.
Ms C
